Cultivate’22 is a world-class trade show where equipment manufacturers, suppliers, solution providers, and many more come together and display their products and services. We saw hydroponic farm designers, water treatment solutions, resource management software, and lots of new varieties of flowers and plants! A major highlight for us was all the beautiful booths and the staff. Everyone we met was passionate about solving problems, and it felt like we were with the right crowd. We made new connections, stepping beyond the world of microbiomes and getting to know other issues that our clients face daily. We want to learn about our growers as best as we can.

Growers and Educational Sessions at Cultivate’22

Speaking of growers, we connected with many growers—from Washington state to Florida to New York, as well as Canadian and Dutch growers. Regardless of their origin, many growers are finding ways to address pathogens. However, there are limited choices because pesticide use is not an option in indoor environment systems. They are also concerned with how chlorine or UV-treated water affects beneficial microorganisms and crop growth. In both cases, proactive microbiome monitoring can help detect pathogens earlier and help you understand the microbial makeup in your hydroponic system. If these interests sound similar to yours, get in touch with us.

We attended multiple educational sessions where speakers presented different ways of tackling plant disease. A typical critical point the speakers highlighted was the importance of prevention. While some preventative methods are challenging (like keeping leaves dry), cleaning pots and discarding infected materials are regularly applied tasks within an indoor farm. The speakers’ proactive stance echoes the goals of our services.
